Local Restriction Support Grants

The Government has announced the provision of Local Restrictions Support Grant (LRSG CLOSED) to assist businesses that have been mandated to close from 5th November 2020 to manage the spread of coronavirus.

There is also an Additional Restrictions Grants Scheme (ARG), this is a discretionary scheme for businesses that have not been legally forced to close and are nonetheless severely impacted by the restrictions put in place to control the spread of Covid-19.

To qualify for a grant your business MUST have been trading on 4th November 2020.

How much funding will be provided?

There are two grants schemes.

For those businesses that are closed and have a current business rates account (LRSG CLOSED) the amount of the funding is based on the property rateable value.

Businesses occupying hereditaments appearing on the local rating list with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under on the date of the commencement of the lockdown restrictions will receive a payment of £1,334.

Businesses occupying hereditaments appearing on the local rating list with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on the date of the commencement of the lockdown restrictions will receive a payment of £2,000.

Businesses occupying hereditaments appearing on the local rating list with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or above on the commencement date of the lockdown restrictions, will receive a payment of £3,000.

All other businesses can apply for a discretionary grant (ARG) of £1,250. This includes businesses with a current business rates account number who have not been mandated to close on 5 November and any other business that has been severely impacted by the restrictions put in place to control the spread of Covid-19.

This form is provided to capture the information required by the council to verify and make payment of the grant.

What happens next?

All applications will be validated and a determination made as to whether the business is eligible for a grant and how much. Payment will be made as soon as practical after the assessment has been made.
