On 21 December 2021. The Government announced the introduction of grant support for hospitality and leisure businesses in England. This support will take the form of a one off grant funding scheme. The scheme is called the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure grant (OHLG).

To qualify for a grant the business must be in the Rating List. The business eligible is that which is shown as the ratepayer on the Council records on 30 December 2021.

The amount of the grant is:

Businesses occupying hereditaments appearing on the local rating list with a rateable value of exactly £15,000 or under on 30 December 2021 will receive a payment of £2,667.

Businesses occupying hereditaments appearing on the local rating list with a rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 on 30 December 2021 will receive a payment of £4,000.

Businesses occupying hereditaments appearing on the local rating list with a rateable value of exactly £51,000 or over on 30 December 2021 will receive a payment of £6,000.

Eligibility.

The Government have advised that the following Businesses will qualify :

Hospitality definition: a business whose main function is to provide a venue for the consumption and sale of food and drink.

Leisure definition: a business that provides opportunities, experiences and facilities, in particular for culture, recreation, entertainment, celebratory events, days and nights out, betting and gaming.

Accommodation definition: a business whose main lodging provision is used for holiday, travel and other purposes.

Exclusions: The Government has advised these businesses will NOT qualify -all retail businesses, personal care businesses, coach tour operators, tour operators, dance and fitness studios, sports centres and clubs, sports courts; swimming pools, golf courses, gyms and sports businesses where physical exercise or training is conducted on an individual or group basis.

Educational settings do not meet the definition of a hospitality, leisure or accommodation business.

Parish and town councils are not able to receive a grant for an eligible business because publicly funded bodies, including Local Authorities, may not be the beneficiaries of grant funding through this scheme.

The Council has identified businesses that may be eligible and they can apply using this form.

Please note you will require information from your latest Business Rates bill to complete this, in addition please ensure you have all the following information before proceeding.

Your business rates account number.

Your company Reference Number (CRN) of if not applicable your VAT Registration Number, Self Assessment/Partnership Number, National Insurance Number, Unique taxpayer Reference, Registered Charity Number.

High Level SIC code. Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) codes

A copy of a current bank statement that shows trading activity on 30 December 2021.

All Local Councils have been told by Government that the grant payments have to be made to you by 31st March 2022. If you are unable to provide some or all of the information your grant payment will be delayed and may not be paid at all.
